AMBER (the Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research Centre) is a Science Foundation Ireland-funded Centre founded in 2013, providing a partnership between leading researchers in materials science and industry. Hosted in TCD, AMBER brings together Ireland's leading material science researchers working across the disciplines of Bioengineering, Chemistry, Immunology, Medicine, Pharmacy and Physics. AMBER researchers have published over 1,450 peer reviewed journal publications to date, many in leading high impact journals.
AMBER boasts and extensive array of Internationally respected equipment, including: Advanced Microscopy Lab, Clean Room and Fabrication Suite, Additive Manufacturing Suite, Membrane Casting equipment, Characterisation Equipment. The AMBER Additive Research Laboratory has a purpose-built suite of 3D printing technology spanning the full spectrum of materials from ceramics and metals to polymers and biomaterials. It was established in 2018 with over €4M in investment by Science Foundation Ireland and the European Research Council through our world-leading investigators.
